In December 2020, CentOS announced on their blog the future of the CentOS Project is CentOS Stream serving as the upstream (development) branch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
What now?
At least 2 RHEL forks have been announced and seem to be worth checking out:
Rocky Linux (release candidate available)
rockylinux.org
AlmaLinux OS (stable release already available)
almalinux.org
Also… you can try CentOS Stream 🙂

Later Edit: This article was updated May 3, 2021 after Rocky Linux announced the availability of their release.
